Lau Kar-leung was one of the most important directors and martial arts choreographers of the Shaw Brothers era. His background in traditional kung fu shaped the way he approached fight choreography, training sequences, and martial arts characters on screen.

Coming from a martial arts family with a long connection to Hung Gar kung fu, Lau Kar-leung brought a strong understanding of traditional technique to his films. His work with Shaw Brothers Studio produced some of the most respected kung fu movies of the 1970s and 1980s.
