David Chiang became one of the best-known stars of Shaw Brothers Studio, appearing in a wide range of classic kung fu, wuxia, and martial arts films during the 1970s. Known for his speed, agility, and controlled fighting style, he became one of the studio's most recognizable leading men.

Chiang worked closely with director Chang Cheh and frequently appeared alongside Ti Lung, forming one of the most familiar screen partnerships in classic Hong Kong martial arts cinema. His performances often combined fast movement, swordplay, and hand-to-hand combat with the dramatic style associated with Shaw Brothers films.
