Naruto Shippuden the Movie (2007), also released as Naruto Shippūden: The Movie, was originally released in Japan as 劇場版 NARUTO -ナルト- 疾風伝 (Gekijōban Naruto Shippūden). Directed by Hajime Kamegaki and written by Junki Takegami, this Japanese anime action adventure is based on the manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. Produced by Studio Pierrot and distributed theatrically in Japan by Toho, the film features the voices of Junko Takeuchi, Chie Nakamura, Yōichi Masukawa, Kōichi Tōchika, and Nana Mizuki. As the first theatrical film set during the Naruto Shippuden era, it brings Naruto and his teammates into a dangerous mission involving a mysterious shrine maiden, a deadly prophecy, and the ancient demon Mōryō.

STORY OVERVIEW

Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Neji Hyūga, and Rock Lee are assigned to protect Shion, a shrine maiden from the Land of Demons who possesses the ability to seal away the powerful demon Mōryō. Shion can also foresee the deaths of others, and when she predicts that Naruto himself will die, he refuses to accept the prophecy.

As Mōryō's forces move to restore their master and deadly enemies pursue Shion, Naruto and his fellow ninja must protect her while uncovering the truth behind the demon's return. With the prophecy hanging over him, Naruto continues fighting alongside his friends and refuses to allow fate to determine the outcome of their mission without revealing the film's conclusion.
