Melinda (1972), also known by its working title Hang Tough!, is an American Blaxploitation action film directed by Hugh A. Robertson. Starring Calvin Lockhart, Rosalind Cash, Vonetta McGee, Paul Stevens, Rockne Tarkington, and Ross Hagen, the film blends crime, suspense, and martial arts while also marking the screen debut of future martial arts star Jim Kelly. Available from ClassicKungFuMovies.com for collectors who value accurate film details and hard-to-find physical media.

STORY SNAPSHOT

After the mysterious Melinda is murdered in his apartment, smooth-talking Los Angeles disc jockey Frankie J. Parker finds himself framed for the crime. With the police and ruthless mobsters closing in, he turns to his martial arts training and trusted friends to uncover the truth behind a deadly conspiracy before becoming the next victim.

WHY COLLECTORS PICK IT

Melinda occupies a unique place in martial arts and Blaxploitation history. While primarily a crime thriller, it introduced martial arts to audiences just before the kung fu boom reached American theaters and features the first screen appearance of Jim Kelly, who would become an international star in Enter the Dragon. Collectors also appreciate its authentic 1970s atmosphere, solid fight sequences, and strong cast led by Calvin Lockhart.
