Chiang Sheng became closely associated with the Venom Mob through his work at Shaw Brothers Studio during the 1970s and 1980s. Known for his athletic movement, acrobatic ability, and energetic performances, he appeared in many of the ensemble martial arts productions directed by Chang Cheh.
Trained in Peking Opera, Chiang Sheng had the physical control needed for the demanding fight choreography found throughout the Venom Mob films. His performances combined hand-to-hand combat, weapons work, acrobatics, and character acting, making him a recognizable part of the group's screen style.
Chiang Sheng and the Venom Mob
Chiang Sheng appeared in films including Five Deadly Venoms, Crippled Avengers, Kid with the Golden Arm, The Daredevils, The Magnificent Ruffians, House of Traps, Flag of Iron, and Ode to Gallantry. He worked alongside Philip Kwok, Lo Mang, Sun Chien, Lu Feng, and Wei Pai in several of the Shaw Brothers productions associated with the Venom Mob.

His roles often gave him opportunities to perform fast hand-to-hand sequences, acrobatics, and traditional weapons choreography. His Peking Opera background was particularly suited to the physical demands of the Shaw Brothers action productions in which he appeared.
