收藏: Chang Cheh

Chang Cheh wasn’t the man throwing the punches, but he may have done as much as anyone to decide what martial arts cinema would feel like at its peak. His films gave Shaw Brothers force, scale, masculinity, and danger.

He worked with trained performers and choreographers—people like Ti Lung, David Chiang, and the Venom Mob—and knew how to turn ability into myth.

Chang Cheh died in 2002, but his shadow still sits over the entire genre.
