Yuen Woo-ping became one of the best-known directors and martial arts choreographers in Hong Kong cinema. Born into the Yuen Clan, Yuen Woo-ping grew up around Chinese opera and martial arts. His understanding of movement, timing, and physical performance became an important part of his approach to action filmmaking and helped him work with many of Hong Kong's leading martial arts performers.
