Collection: Chang Cheh & Venom Mob Movies
The collaboration between director Chang Cheh and the Venom Mob produced a series of Shaw Brothers martial arts films that remain closely associated with the studio's late 1970s and early 1980s kung fu catalog. Working with Philip Kwok, Lo Mang, Chiang Sheng, Sun Chien, Lu Feng, and Wei Pai, Chang Cheh built ensemble productions around different fighting styles, weapons, acrobatics, and stories of loyalty, rivalry, and revenge.
Beginning with Five Deadly Venoms in 1978, the films brought together performers with backgrounds in Peking Opera and martial arts training. Their physical abilities allowed the productions to feature elaborate weapons work, acrobatics, and fast hand-to-hand fighting that became closely associated with the Venom Mob films.
