When Qing officials learn of the visit, they organize a group of assassins determined to eliminate him before the meeting can take place. Realizing the future of the revolution may depend on Sun's survival, businessman Li Yutang assembles an unlikely group of bodyguards drawn from very different walks of life.

As the assassins close in, ordinary citizens find themselves facing extraordinary danger. The defenders must protect Sun Yat-sen while moving through crowded streets and surviving carefully planned attacks. Their willingness to risk their own lives turns the mission into a powerful story of loyalty, courage, and sacrifice.

MARTIAL ARTS HIGHLIGHTS

Bodyguards and Assassins combines hand-to-hand combat, weapon fighting, large-scale street battles, and demanding stunt work. Donnie Yen's contribution to the action gives the film several hard-hitting martial arts sequences, while the broader fight scenes place the characters in crowded and dangerous environments. The action is balanced with character-driven moments that give the sacrifices in each confrontation greater weight.

WHY COLLECTORS PICK IT

Collectors appreciate Bodyguards and Assassins for its large ensemble cast, period setting, detailed production design, and combination of historical drama with martial arts action.
